Anyone else getting anxious to see this movie? I know I am. Especially after the back and forth at Slashdot about it. Frankly, I expect it to be thoroughly castrated. Even the BBC TV show was chopped up pretty good, and it was far far longer than 2 hours. With all the internalized Douglas Adams style dialog that doesn't advance the plot, it would be difficult for them to keep all the jokes in. I figure if it is an 8th as good as the book, it will be outstanding. Plus I like Sam and Zooey.
We shall see. This is also going t be my boys' first exposure to the series. I hope it doesn't go too over their heads. Cay is making it clear that he is *really* excited to see it.

Your kids are sure to get some of the jokes. Those two really are a couple of hoopy froods. And Cay knows where his towel is for sure.

saw it. Friday night. This weekend turned out to be the Weekend-of-Movies-From-Books as we also saw
Sahara
, which wasn't bad. I wasn't elated by H2G2; I'd hoped to be. Instead, I spent the whole time shifting in my decidedly uncomfortable seat trying to get situated. Husband was wildly unthrilled, but then he didn't like the book either, a fact I overlook because I love him. That said, Martin Freeman was a brill choice for Arthur & I rather liked Mos Def in Ford's role too.
oh. and, well, hi. It's Emily. you know, Emily. Bardroom and all?
was toying around and wandered past. Having only the lawn to mow & the tubs to clean, else. Oh, and we're making our little family of 2 into one of 3. in September.

Wow. Where did you go? It's really good to hear from you, and that you are okay! Congrats on the rugrats. They are both a serious joy and a serious pain. I couldn't live without mine. Well, except for the entire weekend since Cam started vomitting Friday night and didn't stop until yesterday. He had an IV in her arm for two days, and we had two sets of 6 hours trying not to be too bored while we waited for various fluids to be put
directly into his blood
. I've never had an IV. Yet another experience my 6 year old has that I can't match.
It's a shame about H2G2, but I'm going into it with the distinct knowledge that it is not the book. I was able to get through (insert last movie based on book here as my befuddled brain can't remember) by keeping that in mind.
My wife didn't appreciate the books either, but I am poisoning the kids behind her back to like good, solid humor and music.
